Time Tracker records where your team's hours go, so client profitability and capacity are based on what actually happened rather than estimates.
Logging time
Each entry has four parts: a date, a client (or Internal, for work that isn't billable to anyone), a function, and how long. A note is optional and worth adding — it's what makes a month of entries readable later.
Time is logged in fixed increments, 15 minutes by default. Your account owner can change that in Time Tracker's settings if your team works in different blocks.
Functions
Functions are the kind of work, not the client. aOS starts you with twelve: Strategy, Design, Copywriting, Development, Ads Management, SEO / Content, Reporting, Client Communication, Meetings, Admin, Sales & Marketing, and Internal / Ops.
Owners and admins can rename these, add your own, or retire ones you don't use. Retiring a function keeps the history that used it — old entries stay intact, it just stops appearing as a choice.
Logging from Slack
If Slack is connected, /track logs time without opening aOS.
Type it in full and it logs immediately:
/track 45m acme design homepage revisions
That reads as 45 minutes, for the client Acme, against Design, with "homepage revisions" as the note.
If anything is ambiguous, or you type /track on its own, a form opens instead with whatever could be worked out already filled in. You'll get a confirmation back with your running total for the day.
Cycles and locking
Time Tracker runs in one of two modes, set by your account owner.
Ongoing lets you log any date, but entries older than a set number of days stop being editable. This keeps recent history correctable without letting last quarter be rewritten.
Cycles means time is logged into defined periods, and only dates inside an open cycle accept entries. Closing a cycle locks it.
Either way, owners and admins can always edit, which is how a one-off correction gets made after a lock.
Cycles can target specific people rather than everyone, so a cycle only appears for those it applies to.
Your daily target
If your team member record has a weekly capacity set, aOS works out an expected daily figure from it across a five-day week and shows your logged time against it.
No capacity set means no target shown — logging still works exactly the same.
Reporting
Owners and admins can see everyone's entries across a date range, which is what feeds client profitability elsewhere in aOS.
Members see their own entries only.
Troubleshooting
I can't edit an old entry
It's locked, either because it's older than the ongoing-mode limit or because its cycle is closed. Ask an owner or admin to make the change.
A client isn't in my list
Either the client is inactive, or your access is limited to assigned clients and you aren't linked to that one. See Roles and permissions.
Time Tracker isn't in my menu
The tool isn't enabled for your user. Your account owner can switch it on in Settings.
/track says it can't find the client or function
Names have to match what's in aOS. Type /track on its own to open the form and pick from the lists instead.
My entry was rejected for the wrong length
Entries have to be a multiple of your increment, 15 minutes unless it's been changed.
